Hegarty, who initiated the idea, chaired the members' group for most of his teenage years, and learned how to race there. The scheme provides off-road motorcycle rides and maintenance in exchange for a contract from youngsters, aged between 13 and 17 years, to never ride illegally or anti-socially.
